Holidays Afloat in Belgium
Cruise Belgium’s network of canals and rivers through peaceful countryside and historic towns. Famous for its chocolates, beer and lace Belgium offers a variety of boating holiday options just inland from its coast.
Enjoy fine sandy beaches backed by dunes near our boat base in Nieuwpoort.
Ideally placed to see the sights of Western Flanders it is a short cruise to beautiful Bruges, known as the ‘Venice of the North’ for its many canals.
Moor at Bruges and explore this medieval town along cobbled streets lined with lace and chocolate shops. Cruise the canals to see the town, and perhaps have the famous ‘moules et frites’ washed down by one of the 300 local beers.
From Bruges continue to Ghent, Belgium's ancient Flemish capital, with its ornate buildings and imposing facades.
Oudenaarde is the centre of the Flemish tapestry industry. Nearer Nieuwpoort is Veurne – noted for its Grand Place and covered markets.
Visit the extensive World War memorials at Ypres, where the Last Post is played at 8pm daily.
Wherever you go in Belgium there is an excellent range of superb food shops –pâtisseries, charcuteries, poissonneries and bakeries.
Our base at Nieuwpoort is convenient for the UK – a short distance from Zeebrugge for ferries from Hull, and less than one hour from Calais. From here there is an ideal short break or weekend cruise to Bruges and back with only 2 bridges and 15 locks.
Please note: In April and October all locks and bridges are closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays betwen Nieuwpoort and Bruges
