Boating Holidays in Portugal

The Amieira Base is in a perfect location on the banks of the lake Grande Lago in Portugal. This is a fantastic boating holiday destination as it has 300 days of sunshine a year, no locks and plenty of free mooring opportunities.

The largest artificial lake in Europe, Grande Lago was built in 2002 and runs through the sunny Alentejo region in the South of Portugal. Grande Lago has clean, warm waters which are perfect for swimming, and the Alentejo region is great for lovers of nature and watersport fans. Keen anglers can fish for black bass, carp, pike and more and the area is ideal for cycling and hiking.

The Alentejo area is rich in history and many of the stops around the lake allow easy access to the beautiful surrounding villages and ancient sites. Visit the 13th century castle of Mourao or head to the fortified town of Monsaraz with its quaint, cobbled streets.

Explore the fascinating village of Luz which was totally rebuilt on the banks of the Grande Lago after the original village was swallowed up by the Lago Alqueva, and see the impressive Alqueva Dam.

Our boat base is open 365 days a year and we offer short breaks and week-long holidays. Amieira Marina is 180km from Lisbon and 200km from Faro Airport (approximately 2 hours).
